I don’t think I’ll ever totally understand Nigerians and their need to speak English in their movies… Really, it’s not by force.
I was just on my own o, generally getting ready for work but stopping at intervals to browse through the DSTV channels and the catch-up… It’s reflex! I suddenly stumbled on a Nigerian movie, waiting to be watched… I wasn’t planning to! But my attention was drawn to the title and I screamed out, “Oh, my goodness!” I beckoned on hubby to come help me review the title, he’s English is ‘sounder’ than mine, believe it… And he’s supposed to be the razz one (still baffles me). Anyway, he agreed with me concerning the title.
Please, peeps, the title read “Tears of Innocent”…and so I proceeded to read the info about the movie, maybe the story is about Innocent… Alas, Innocent’s name didn’t come up o! Please, what do you guys think should have been a the right title?!
Nigerian home videos have never failed in entertaining me… never!
I was just relaxing on my own when a scene in an Africa Magic movie caught my eyes and attention, or maybe the actress was the one that raised the dust!
I won’t lie, I think these girls that play some roles in the movie, are there just to ‘sell’ their ‘wares’ to the highest bidder! Because, quite frankly I don’t understand these their fashion sense! …And she’s supposed to be a lawyer!
This one scene showed an actress who claims to be a lawyer… and last time I checked, lawyers are as conservative as doctors in their dressing. So lawyers over to you, is this your ‘colleague’ appropriately dressed? Even with the blue hair!… Na wah!!!
This is what Nigerian-Lebanese Queeneth Hilbert had to say concerning sex in an interview with VANGUARD.
“ When I was trying to establish myself as a model, every man I met wanted something from me. In this country, most men you meet don’t want to do anything for you unless you are ready to offer sex. Only very few men are nice. I don’t know if it happens like that to other women but for me, it has and that doesn’t mean I have anything against men. I don’t” she says
And her feelings haven’t affected her desirability to have sex with the opposite sex. “Well, you see someone and you feel this guy will be good in bed, fine, go ahead and have it. Sex is something you can have if you feel good about it. I don’t believe all those Bible stuffs about sex” she quips.
Well, my only advice to Queeneth is that she should really be mindful of her utterances especially when it comes to biblical stuff. Ignorance isn’t bliss.
*For someone who resembles ‘mammy-water’ (mermaid), what do expect?!*
